Reservoir Engineer – Software Development

Fekete Associates Inc. is currently looking for a senior reservoir engineer, with experience in the petroleum industry and exposure to software development processes to join our technical advisory group.

Our software provides practical and advanced solutions for reservoir engineering and production optimization projects around the world. Each software development team is comprised of engineers, programmers and quality assurance staff who work in collaboration on the development of each product.
Job Description:
- As part of a software development team, provide petroleum and reservoir engineering advice and guidance in developing our F.A.S.T. software.
- Lead our research and development activities within one or more of our software modules, to ensure the software’s ongoing technical excellence.
- Prepare technical requirement and specification documentation; and work with programming staff to ensure delivery of the desired functionality.
- Verify technical accuracy of software calculations, mathematical algorithms and provide direction on quality assurance.
- Prepare technical presentations and papers, and make these presentations to technical audiences in both Canada and abroad.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Engineering (Petroleum or Reservoir specialization), preferably at the Master’s level.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- 5+ years’ experience in the petroleum sector, preferably in reservoir engineering and analysis, including:
- Gas Reservoir Fundamentals.
- Rate Transient Analysis.
- Typecurve Analysis.
- Analytical Reservoir Model Formulation.
- Exceptional analytical and project management skills, along with knowledge of software design principles and programming processes.
- Excellent communication skills – presentation, verbal, listening and written.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of self-motivation.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, strong team player capable of working in and contributing effectively to a team environment and who will be a good fit to the Fekete culture.

Software Support Specialist

Job Description:
- Responsible for the documentation and follow-up of software support related issues.
- Provide assistance to clients during work and after hours.
- Verify software issues reported by clients and communicate them to the Quality Assurance group.
- Maintain service delivery by providing prompt, efficient and courteous handling of calls.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Up to 1 year of IT experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and Server 2008).
- Knowledge of SQL and Access Databases.
- Demonstrated ability to understand TCP/IP Networking.
- Excellent communication skills – presentation, verbal, listening and written.
- Exceptional customer service and troubleshooting skills.
- Oilfield experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of Citrix is an asset.
