Release Notes
This is the initial unveiling of FAST Harmony™. Like most FAST software, FAST Harmony™ was initially developed for our internal engineering consulting groups. The time required to satisfy the needs of our internal technical experts has paid off and we believe we have produced an application that will make a positive impact on the way reserves and production forecasting are conducted within the petroleum industry.
New Features
FAST Harmony™ is a comprehensive engineering toolkit designed for professionals responsible for conducting reserve evaluations, reservoir engineering projects and production data analyses. Analysis methods include:
- Traditional and tight gas decline
- Advanced gas material balance
- Oil and gas volumetrics
- WOR (water-oil-ratio) analysis
- Ratio forecasting
Each analysis method can be dynamically linked to share common user input parameters and to enforce consistent results
FAST Harmony™ presents wells in user defined, attributes-driven hierarchies that make analyses and reporting completely customizable for any company’s organizational structures. It also includes an interactive map, enhanced plot creation and series manipulations, plot templates and user defined analysis workflows. Templates and analysis workflows can be created and set to be the default as part of the overall workflow. This enables the user to save time by being capable of opening several worksheets and initialized analyses automatically for each launched well. It also allows the user to refine the templates and analysis workflows as work progresses. Reports can be printed at any time or queued and then batch printed. Subsequent changes to analyses are automatically updated for all queued reports.
FAST Harmony™ will import data from files saved in current releases of FAST RTA™ and FAST MBA™. However, it does not support import of any analyses from those files. FAST Harmony™ has also been developed to leverage off of the Fekete Database Views function in FAST RTA™ and FAST CBM™ to import data from internal company databases.
Known Issues
FAST Harmony™ has been subjected to extensive testing by our development team and our internal technical experts. However, we would be remiss to present this software as completely bug-free. There are some portions of the software that we will need your feedback to help us formulate the best final solution and there are a number of issues that could not be dealt with in the allotted time. The following is a summary of the important remaining known issues:
- Application Stability
Periodically, data in plots will not be displayed or errors will be reported when manipulating hierarchies or editing data. If the software starts acting inconsistently, it is recommended that the software be closed and re-started.
- Entity Manager
The Entity Manager contains two main areas; Hierarchy Groups and Customs Groups. Hierarchy groups depend upon the Attributes Viewer for proper assignment of attributes to each well. Analyses and manipulation of wells is currently handled consistently but some manipulations of attributes or deletion/addition of wells can affect analyses conducted on groups when this results in the group's aggregate production being modified.
- Application Loading
The application will periodically not show-up in the Task Bar even though it has been started and is still loading. This typically occurs when loading multiple applications. Minimizing the other applications will usually resolve the issue.
- Well Names
There are many ways to name wells throughout the world. Harmony attempts to handle this by allowing for the use of many name types and then allowing the user to select the most appropriate name as the Display Name. Feedback on other or improperly represented naming schemes will be greatly appreciated.
- Wellhead versus Sandface location referencing
Harmony utilizes latitude and longitude as our primary method for identifying the location of a well on the earth. With more and more deviated, horizontal, and multi-lateral wells being drilled, maintaining proper well naming and visual representations of these wells is very difficult.
- RTA File Imports
Wells imported from RTA will always be placed in the Northwestern hemisphere due to differences in the handing of latitude and longitude.
- MBA File Imports
Wells imported from MBA will occasionally have an incorrect period in the last row of production.
- User Interface Issues
There are numerous toolbars, fonts, line colors, cut/copy/paste functionality, and display of custom attributes in the Attributes Viewer that are not available where they should be, or cannot be saved, or do not re-load appropriately when a project is re-opened.
- Data Editing
Editing production data will not trigger the autoscale for the affected plots.
- Gas Property Data Handling
Gas composition data is handled too simply for wells and especially for groups. It is recommended that the user always review the gas properties for each new analysis.
- Forecast Worksheet
Forecast Worksheets for group entities do not currently include the number of producing wells.
- Plot Axis Type
Changing the plot axis type from coordinate to log and vice versa can cause an analysis line to disappear and needs to be toggled off then on to become visible.
- Text File Imports
Attempting to import a non-text file and then canceling the import can cause the software to crash. Solvent gas injection is not being currently imported and saved in Harmony projects.
